This is 5 month old Baby E! She was the sweetest baby I have met in a long time. So peaceful and happy, and over our time together she never cried and barely even fussed! With all the getting in and out of carriers that we sometimes do in my private sessions, this is pretty remarkable. She was recently diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia and her parents wanted to check to see if they could keep wearing her in the carrier that they already had. They were also curious if they could find something more snuggly and comfortable for mom and baby. Daddy was really happy with his Beco Gemini and I encouraged them to keep using it for errands and things, however, E can benefit from a deeper seat that conforms to and supports the therapeutic position that the Pavlik Harness is trying to encourage for deeper hip socket development. A Deeper seat is especially going to be beneficial during long wearing periods and naps.
Here is E in her Pavlik Harness before we wrapped her up.
Here we are in a simple Front Cross Carry, wrapped exactly as I would any other baby, with just a little extra care and attention to the lift behind E’s knees and to make sure that her harness position was perfectly supported. It is by no coincidence that optimal position for hip development and optimal positioning for baby wrapping are exactly the same.
Here she is unwrapped, in the same position on her mama. the harness holds the legs up in an m position, deepening the hip sockets over time with the help of gravity.
The Woven wrap just molds to her bodies needs so perfectly. This is the Nunamoochie Elephant Ears woven wrap.
Once we were wrapped up, free hands to shop in Elephant Ears was a bonus. The hardest part about falling in love with wrapping can be choosing your first wrap.
After practicing 3 times, We all felt pretty confident in mamas wrapping abilities. Here is the link (below) to our favorite basic wrap carry pictured here!
